Gamecock Gala 2

 

In 1995 we staged Gamecock Gala 2 that was held at the old Seawell's Resturant inside the South Carolina State Fairgrounds.

The event t-shirts asked the question: What Are You Doing To Kick Off The Season? Again, with loads of vintage Gamecock sports memorabilia on display and USC football legends in attendence we set out to showcase the proud history of USC! 

 

The souvenir posters featured a tough looking bird designed for this event by Bill Cauthen, the artist of the program cover for the 1959 last Big Thursday USC vs Clemson game.

 

 

 

 

 

In attendence were Gamecock greats TATUM GRESSETTE, DOM FUSCI, BISHOP STRICKLAND, JOHNNY GRAMBLING, BILLY GAMBRELL, WARREN GIESE, KING DIXON, MARVIN BASS, FREDDY ZIEGLER, JOHN LeHEUP, JEFF GRANTZ, GEORGE ROGERS, CHUCK SLAUGHTER, RICK SANFORD, BILL CURRIER, JAMES SEAWRIGHT and KEVIN "The Chief" HENDRIX.

WOW!! What a line-up! Looking back at it now, we would like to point out that this line-up featured two head coaches, 10 members of USC's ALL TIME TEAM and 11 members of USC's Atheltic Hall of Fame!

 The walls were covered with loads of jerseys and memorabilia related to former USC athletes from all sports!
